Kauai, wildlife - On Kauai during one of the huricanes chickens and fighting roosters escaped. The result was a very healthy population of wild chickens now refered to as Jungle Fowl. They are like the pigeons of Kauai and you see them just about everywhere. In some places where they people feed them they are quite agressive and will swarm your car. This chicken is on the lanai of my room on the 3rd floor hanging out. I had no idea they could get up so high.

Besides tshirts saying Jungle Fowl the bird of Kauai, not an endangered species' there is a silly joke about cooking jungle fowl. It goes something like, How do you cook a jungle fowl? Well you kill a jungle fowl then you get a really big pot and 5 lava rocks. Fill the pot with water and spices. Bring water to boil, add rocks and jungle fowl. Cover and let cook for 7 hours then eat rocks.
